AutoMajick is/will be a key component of your terrain tools suite.
Currently, this tool will automatically assembles tiled terrains from a folder containing PNG landscape image tiles which correspond to the required naming format:
NameofPNGfile_x#_y#
For Example, a 3x3 image would be:
x0y0, x0y1, x0y2
x1y0, x1y1, x1y2
x2y0, x2y1, x2y2
This tool also, automatically creates a "TerrainInitializer" script which builds the "SetNeighbor" method used to tag each terrain as neighbors to one another.
This utility should save you countless hours of work when creating Tiled Landscapes, allowing you to move onto editing and fine tuning the tiled landscapes faster than ever.
Please note: This tool currently only works to create tiled landscapes from PNGs, however, future versions will include additional features, such as:
- Auto-building Tiled Landscapes from RAW
- Auto-Resizing/Positioning of existing tiled landscapes.
- Auto-Painting Tiled Landscapes from a folder of textures based on texture names
- Additional features as time permits.
In addition to this utility, we would also recommend the "Multiple Terrain Brush" available from NatureManufacture available from the Asset Store for stitching and fine tuning the terrains after they've been assembled.
