Create infinite animated pixel animals with 2D Infinite Character Forge –
a Procedural pixel animal generator and animator.2D Infinite Character Forge – Animals Edition generates animated pixel-art animals in C#. It ships with no fixed sprite sheets. Pick a species, a breed and a seed, and the forge draws a complete animated animal in the Editor or at runtime. It uses the same slightly-front three-quarter view as the other 2D Infinite Character Forge editions, so the animals can share a scene with their heroes, soldiers, monsters and villagers.DEMO HERE!The library covers 24 species and 98 breeds and colour morphs:Pets: cats and dogs, including husky, dalmatian and shibaForest animals: foxes, wolves, lynxes, bears, badgers, raccoons and ratsBig cats: lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars and cheetahs, plus hyenas and jackalsHoofed animals: deer, moose, reindeer, eight horse colours, boars, pigs, cattle, goats and sheepEvery seed changes the coat tone, ears, tail, horn and antler size, fur fullness and where spots, rosettes and patches fall, so no two animals look quite the same. Animals come in four size classes (Tiny, Small, Medium, Large). The real size difference is kept without scaling any sprites, so a lion stands taller than a fox at the same pixels-per-unit.Customizable: Everything is editable. You can change head, muzzle, ear, horn, tail, leg and body shapes, the fur fullness, 18 combinable coat-pattern layers and every colour. Every change redraws at once.Temper: Calm, Wary or Fierce. Fierce gives bared fangs, laid-back ears, raised hackles and glinting eyes.Zombification: six stages, from a fresh bite through rot and exposed ribs to a full skeleton. Every detail of each stage can be adjusted.Animations: each animal has seven: Idle, Walk, Run, Hit, Attack (pounce), Bite and Die. Attack and Bite raise an event on the frame they connect, so you can hook in your damage logic.Export: save animals as PNGs, sprite sheets, presets, editable prefabs or baked animated prefabs. You can also generate them live at runtime with full source code.Suitable genres: The pack fits any 2D pixel-art game that needs animals:RPGs and adventure games (wildlife, mounts, pets, enemies)Survival, hunting and farming games (livestock, game animals, predators)Roguelikes and dungeon crawlers (wolves, rats, bears and other beasts)Strategy and simulation games (herds, packs, ranches)Horror and zombie games (undead animals and skeletal beasts)Because generation is seeded and runs at runtime, it suits procedural games that need endless variety. Calm, wary and fierce versions of the same species make it easy to tell friendly animals from hostile ones. The included Standoff demo puts a forest pack against the hunters of the savanna across a dry riverbed. It zooms out from two animals to about a hundred, all generated live.Package type: Editor tool + runtime library (procedural 2D pixel-art animal generator). No pre-made sprite sheets: all animal art is generated by C# code in the Editor or at runtime.Generated imagesFrame size: varies by animal, about 41×31 to 73×68 px. Every frame and both facings of one animal share the same canvas and pivot, so animations switch without jitter.Animals are about 11–37 px tall, horns and antlers included. There are 4 size classes (Tiny, Small, Medium, Large). Sprites are never scaled: a larger animal has more pixels at the same pixels-per-unit. The sprite pivot is on the ground under the body centre, and the default is 16 pixels per unit.Color depth: 32-bit RGBA (Texture2D RGBA32, point filtering, no mipmaps)Transparency: binary alpha (fully transparent background, no partial alpha)Export: PNG (integer scale 1–16×), sprite sheet (one row per animation), editable prefabs, baked animated prefabs (animation-set asset), preset assets and JSONContent24 species, 98 breeds and colour morphs; unlimited variations from seeds (colour tone, ears, tail, horn/antler size, fur fullness, placement of spots, rosettes and patches)7 ear shapes, 6 horn/antler shapes, 11 tail shapes, paws or hooves, manes, crests, wool, tusks, beards and udders18 combinable coat-pattern layers plus socks and 9 editable coat colours3 tempers (Calm, Wary, Fierce) and 6 zombification stages (Bitten, Turning, Risen, Rotting, Decayed, Skeleton), all editable in detail7 animations: Idle (6 frames), Walk (4), Run (4), Hit (3), Attack (6), Bite (5), Die (7)Included files: 46 C# scripts, 1 demo scene (plus a gallery scene builder), 4 documentation preview images and 1 preview GIF, documentation (Markdown)ArchitecturePure C# engine (no UnityEngine dependency) and thin Unity components (PixelAnimalView, PixelAnimalAnimator)Editor window, inspectors, prefab exporter, demo and gallery scene buildersSeparate assembly definitions: Runtime, Editor, Samples, TestsMain API: AnimalForge.Generate, AnimalLibrary.Generate / Create, AnimalRenderer.RenderFrame, AnimalSheet.Build, PixelAnimalView.SetSpecies / SetTemper / SetZombieStage / SetFacing, plus animation events (AttackMoment, BiteMoment, AnimationCompleted)Animals are serialized as JSON-compatible data (AnimalDefinition). The same seed gives the same animal on every platform.Dependencies: None required. Optional: URP + Shader Graph for the included lit sprite material; Unity Test Framework for the included EditMode tests.Platforms: All Unity platforms (managed C# only, no native plugins). On WebGL, generation runs on the main thread; on other platforms the demo uses worker threads.Limitations: Animations are visual poses only; movement, targets and damage are handled by your game. Effects (hit flash, dust puffs) are drawn into the sprite frames, not particle systems. Four-legged mammals only (no birds, reptiles or fish) and no gear or clothing. Facing left mirrors the 2D artwork; this is not a multi-angle system.Unity version: 2022.3 or newerDesign helpBug huntProblem solvingDevil's advocatePackage creation
