Pressing Record from Edit Mode enters Play Mode and starts automatically. Constant FPS drives Unity's capture timing so every frame is captured at the selected rate, paced to the wall clock so the clip stays real-time. Variable FPS records real-time playback up to the chosen maximum frame rate, which is useful when you want the capture to reflect actual Editor playback. Audio is captured and muxed into the final file on stop.Screenshot captureScreenshot mode saves a single still of the Game View, a Camera, or the editor's Scene view using the Capture and Output settings, with no FFmpeg required. Camera and Scene view stills are written directly in Edit Mode on the Built-in, URP, and HDRP render pipelines, without entering Play Mode. PNG is lossless and can include alpha; JPG is smaller and exposes a quality slider. Enable Burst to capture a series of stills in one press, spaced by an interval. The Screenshot controls remain available while a video recording is running, so you can grab stills mid-capture.Developer scripting APIEditor scripts can drive Framecast through a public API: start and stop recordings, capture screenshots, read live capture state, and preview output file names. This makes it easy to wire capture into your own editor tools, menu items, and automated workflows.FFmpeg setupFFmpeg is required for video encoding and is not bundled with the package. Download ffmpeg.exe manually and place it in the package's Editor/FFmpeg folder, or, if you already have an ffmpeg.exe, point Framecast at it with the browse (...) button. The FFmpeg card includes Download, Open folder, and Auto-detect helpers. Screenshots do not require FFmpeg.
