There is now the AutoSave Editor for this.

After downloading, just open the editor and your Unity also saves at regular intervals (which you choose).
Now with a simple backup function: You can have your edited scenes saved in a folder of your choicewith an arbitrarily large number of versions.
Try it now and lose no more data.
