Music is one of the most undervalued aspects of a game. The right music can make a great game feel like an epic Hollywood masterpiece.In fact, in Hollywood, the most important function of the music is to tell the viewer how to feel. As the action in a scene unfolds, the music grows and scales back to match the action on screen.
With games, this can be a challenge, because unlike a movie, the player’s actions in a game are not scripted. So, one of the great game music challenges is to make a soundtrack that feels like it’s a score specifically written for the player’s experience, without being the same arrangement every time.
Enter Infinitracks. Infinitracks are carefully constructed pieces of music that seamlessly scale in intensity and dynamics.
Walking around the enemy base unseen? The low intensity music fits here.
Getting close to an enemy with their back turned? Smoothly transition into the medium intensity music. Let the player know that something could potentially happen soon.
Spotted by the enemy? Crescendo into the high intensity music!
No matter what your scene entails, the smoothness of the Infinitracks allows you to dynamically and seamlessly change intensities to match the gameplay. This is not just a change in volume level, it’s a change in dynamics. From pianissimo to fortissimo.
Each Infinitrack pack includes a professionally composed, mixed and mastered track that loops infinitely. The track contains 3 mixes: low, medium and high intensity.
Included, is a very easy to use script that can easily be included in your game to control the soundtrack in real time.
In a scene, with nothing much going on? Set the intensity to low:

Suddenly in combat? Spotted by the enemy? Transition to the high intensity music:
dsc.SetIntensity(3);
The music is always perfectly lined up, without missing a beat. The transition is a smooth crossfade, so it feels naturally as if the orchestra has adjusted their playing to match your game player’s actions. The result is heart pounding.
