OctaneRender® for Unity is now available, bringing physically-based rendering directly into Unity. This release focuses on Cinematic Rendering. With Timeline and Cinemachine, this powerful storytelling toolkit will enable millions of Unity creators worldwide to compose beautiful, film-quality scenes and sequences. Please visit unity.otoy.com for project guides, and to learn more about the integration.
This release introduces OctaneRender Prime, Studio, and Creator for Unity. Prime is free for all Unity creators and is limited to a primary GPU; Studio and Creator are subscriptions offering access to more GPUs and additional OctaneRender plugins. OctaneRender Studio and Creator are available here. Each version features the industry-leading OctaneRender Standalone application integrated into the Unity Editor, beginning with Unity 2017.1. Please note that OctaneRender for Unity currently does not support OS X or Linux.
This sample scene will enable you to install OctaneRender for Unity. When you first load the scene, you will be prompted to (a) link your Unity and OTOY accounts, (b) download OctaneRender for Unity, and (c) load OctaneRender. If you have not subscribed to Studio or Creator, it will install Prime. If you have purchased Studio or Creator, your Unity ID will trigger the respective tier to be downloaded. You will also receive a separate email directing you to the OTOY account portal to select and manage your additional plugins.
Any scene from OTOY on the Asset Store can install OctaneRender, however the OctaneRender for Unity Installer Scene is lightweight and friendly to get started. Other scenes are heavier and will require a moment to load.
Please check out our Installation Guide and Introduction to Octane for Unity tutorial, then visit OTOY on the Asset Store to download sample scenes. You can also read the Octane for Unity Manual, visit the OTOY Forums, or submit a ticket for more in-depth questions.
Happy rendering!
