Space, low over an alien planet's sea, islands and canyons, down into its volcanic core to fight the Magma Wyrm (a flying lava dragon boss), and a race against rising lava to escape.Practice range: a looping tutorial course with six stations.Autopilot Demo (new in 1.2): the autopilot flies any mission by itself, great for testing your levels and for showing your game.Flight and combatGuns with upgrades, and lock-on missiles: sweep the crosshair over up to four enemies and fire micro missiles at each, or launch the big belly missile.Barrel rolls that deflect shots, a loop-de-loop, U-turns, and boost and brake on one shared meter.Four wings that each smoke, burn and break off on their own.Call a wingman for help (H / gamepad A).Level pieces (1.2)Terrain the ship, camera and enemies follow; sky, fog and light that change along a journey.Obstacles: rubble walls, falling spires and trees, crashing rocks, hover rocks, lava bursts, laser fences, force fields, mines and more.Skill gates (brake, boost and loop challenges) and side routes.All-range mode and dogfight AIFree 3D flight inside an arena, with a radar, edge arrows and an automatic turn-back at the edge.AI fighters that pursue, make gun runs, break off and evade. Procedural explosion textures and pilot portraits.CC0 photo textures (ambientCG) for the Grand Tour's ground, rock, lava and metal.Documentation: 11-page PDF and Markdown guide, CHANGELOG, THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES, code comments and tooltips. No art in Rail Ace 1.2 was made with generative AI. The old Meshy AI player fighter from 1.1 has been removed. All ships (the player ship “Ace”, wingmen, enemy fighters, turret, cruiser, and flagship) are built by the kit’s own Ship Generator in C# code. Sounds and music are synthesized by our own code. The Grand Tour’s photo textures are CC0 from ambientCG. Store images are in-engine captures.AI was used in two places: the C# code and shaders were written with the help of an AI coding assistant (Claude by Anthropic) and then tested by us, and the narration in the tutorial video is an AI text-to-speech voice (Kokoro).
