RMH Experimental Rifle 001.
This is a rifle-like weapon built up from a series of sketches I made with the aim of building something unique looking, but also something that could possibly exist. Perhaps it was made in a futuristic junkyard by someone who knew what they were doing but had limited time and resources, and just needed a weapon to fight of the bad guys (or was the bad guys!). As to the ammunition it uses, that I leave up to you; it kind of looks like a shotgun/rifle/flamethrower with large energy-weapon-magnetic-looking rings, so it could be just about anything. The idea behind the handle placement is people tend to have stronger biceps than triceps, and the handles are more bicep-centrique, again, helping the user with the weight of the weapon.
The rifle was designed to be held centrally on the chest with the lower stock pressed against the waist to distribute the weapon's weight comfortably. Though there is a large hinge on the chest stock, it is a solid piece and does not have movement (in an FPS, it seemed movement here would detract from the usual weapon mechanics of turning in the enemies' direction and firing). The waist stock hinges around the rifle's central lower pivot, so it could go from being a stock to a bipod-like attachment, should the user need to go prone or just need to stabilise the weapon during combat.
A simple cabinet model has been added mainly for presentation purposes (fully textured).
No colliders have been added to the models, as I am not sure how this will be implemented in a game. Standard box and capsule colliders should suffice, if needed. There are 2 prefabs (rifle [consists of 3 pieces], and cabinet). Scale-wise: the rifle was modelled to be approximately 1 metre from tip to the stock cushions, and test mannequin was used to make sure the weapon was holdable, despite its size.
(metallic PBR workflow used / all models are .FBX format)
Tri/vert-wise, this model is about average count from what I understand:
Experimental Rifle, 8184 tris, 4497 verts. 4K PNGs. Maps: Albedo, AO, Metallic, Normal, Emissive
Chest Stock, 902 tris, 525 verts. 2K PNGs. Maps: Albedo, AO, Metallic, Normal
Waist Stock, 1704 tris, 897 verts. 2K PNGs. Maps: Albedo, AO, Metallic, Normal
Cabinet, 1404 tris, 920 verts. 2K PNGs. Maps: Albedo, AO, Metallic, Normal
Rifle with Both Stocks, 10790 tris, 5919 verts.
The .exr HDRI file used to light the scene was downloaded freely from USC Institute for Creative Technologies.
