Visualise tasks, issues and documentation in 3D space, directly within a Unity scene. Scene Notes is a third-party integration that brings the power of project management from Codecks to Unity.Scene Note brings Codecks cards into the Unity editor. It allows to visualise and edit tasks, issues, docs or notes; directly from the Scene View.Use cases:Level design tasks can be visualised exactly where they belong, next to the object or geometry to be changed. This is perfect for open-world games, MMOs, and in general games where space matters.QA can add positional data to bug reports, to help developers track them down.Game designers can write documentation or lore cards, and place them directly in the scene to provide context for environment artists. If you work with an outsourcing studio producing 3D models, you can leave revision notes directly next to each asset, in the showcase scene where they drop the models.Create and edit Scene NotesYou can create new cards and edit them directly from Unity. Properties include:Title and ContentsPriorityEffortStatus (To start, Started, Done)Ability to archive a cardWhen you make a Codecks card into a Scene Note, you also get the ability to:Move it in space.Assign it to a scene. The Scene Note will only appear if the scene is loaded.Assign it to a "category" (the deck it is in). This can also be used to filter Scene Notes by category.A practical toolbarScene Notes comes as a "Scene Overlay". You can dock the toolbar to a corner of the Scene View, and use it to:Hide/Show notesFilter them by category (the deck they are in)Create new Scene NotesCopy scene metadata to turn an existing card into a Scene NoteSearch for notes using their ID... and moreDocumentationYou can preview the documentation for Scene Notes and learn all about the functionality before you buy it.Save some moneyCodecks Scene Notes is part of our All Editor Tools bundle. By getting that, you effectively get this package at 25% off. If instead you already purchased this package, you will get a discount on the bundle.FeedbackI'm always happy to hear from you how I can make Codecks Scene Notes better. You can write to buoybase@gmail.com and we can assess if it can be added to the asset. Or hop on my Discord to have a chat. The tool comes as an embedded UPM package. This means that it won't drop in Assets, but will be installed in the Packages folder. What does this do to your Codecks cards?"Turning" a Codecks card into a Scene Note is not a destructive operation, so no cards are lost if you decide to stop using this integration. A Scene Note is nothing else than a regular card with a metadata string at the end of its content. You can have a Codecks project that is partly regular cards, and partly Scene Notes. They can also be mixed in the same deck. You can edit a Scene Note from within Unity, or from the Codecks website. Team members that are not Unity users can still edit, create or archive Scene Notes.2D gamesCodecks Scene Notes can also be used in 2D games. Is this a bug reporting tool?Codecks Scene Notes is an Editor-only tool and does not work at runtime, so it's not a bug-reporting tool to be used in builds. The team at Codecks already provides such functionality, they call it User Reports. Is this an official Codecks tool?Scene Notes is an unofficial integration, and is not associated with the Codecks team.Compatible Unity versionsBecause it relies on Scene Overlays, this integration is compatible with Unity starting from 2022.x (2023.x, Unity 6, etc.)Earlier versions (like 2021.3 LTS) are not supported.
