This package is intended to familiarize the user with the ancient game Backgammon.
Gameplay
The game is fully functional, it ensures that the rules of the game are correctly followed.
The left mouse button is used to move the pieces to the appropriate allowed places. If you press the right mouse button while dragging a stone, the stone will go to the farthest slot among the currently possible ones.
The right mouse button allows you to rotate the camera. You can also zoom in or out the camera using mouse scroll. Use the arrow keys or the left mouse button to move the camera on the board.
There is a "Roll the dice" button that generates two random numbers from 1 to 6. In the game, you can play locally with another person or with yourself.
To start the game, each player must confirm their willingness to participate in the game by clicking the "Start Game" button.
You can start a new game at any time by clicking the "New Game" button.
Farthest mode
In the game, you can choose one of two ways to highlight the target slots for a given stone being dragged. By default, the closest slots you can jump onto are highlighted. Additionally, after selecting the Farthest option, the farthest possible slots will be highlighted, which you can jump onto after adding up the values of the dice rolled.
Edit mode
There is an editing mode that allows you to create the appropriate initial settings of stones on the board. It also allows for changing the game time. Edit mode is always present right before the game starts. After both players accept the settings by pressing the Start Game buttons, the game begins. It is not possible to enter the edit mode during the game.
In edit mode:
- the rules of the game are not respected
- the clock is turned off
- game time can be modified
- the "Roll the dice" button is always visible and interactable
- the stones can be freely rearranged, including putting them into their shelters
In edit mode, you can run a simulation game or play any game you are watching.
