Universe Generator shatters the map size limits, eliminating floating point errors and allowing realistic scales for space travel. Give your players the faith that any smudge or star they see in the sky is one they could travel to!
Now has an optional atmosphere skybox layer which changes based on star position, For terrestrial planets.
Lower end cards are now supported, galaxies can be baked asynchronously to achieve this!
Stars are now sprites controlled by the gpu, they stretch based on your speed.
Very complex volumetric shaders give the largest performance hit, though the detail of these can be adjusted automatically to hit a target framerate. Various baking options now exist to bake out distant galaxies or when traveling below certain speeds.
Note: Requires shader model 5.0, as it makes heavy use of compute shaders.
Note: It will take a GTX 980TI or better to use the real time galaxies, however baked galaxies will still work fine. Its recommended to use a warp effect to mask quick movement through space, or include a slow movement style in your game to give the tool time to bake.
