They span over a period of a 1200 years:

- The Tower shield, an elongated rectangular type of Achaean early body-shield.

- The Figure-of-eight shield, a common type of Achaean body-shield composed by two lobes.

- The Dipylon, used during the late Helladic period is an oval shield with two cuts on both sides.

- The Boeotian, a large shield having scooped indentations at both sides.

- The Aspis, a heavy deeply dished wooden shield.
