Generate Project Folders - README Generator & Manager - ChangeLog Manager
This Unity asset package was created to assist us in creating and managing multiple projects. In order to
keep our projects somewhat uniform in design we created this utility to setup our project folder structure and give us a means of keeping track of all the changes during development.
This Utility comes with three primary functions:
1. Generate Project Folders
When setting up a new project, we like to keep things consistent and this function helps us achieve that goal. This function will create a basic folder structure in your project. If the folder exists, it will leave it alone so that nothing in your existing project is harmed. Now when we jump between projects, we know what to expect regardless who in our team started it.
2. README Generator / Manager
README files give us a common file for all developers to refer to regarding settings and goals. Saved in the root of your project as README.txt, this plain text file contains information about your project and company. Also, being saved in this location means it won't interfere with your project while still being maintained between developers.
Since this utility can read this file as well as write to it, this file is a great way to manage your ongoing project. This utility will also refer to your current project settings. This means managing your project title, version and company name is a two way street when using this utility resulting in less typing back and forth.
3. ChangeLog Manager
Working with clients and multiple developers, keeping track of changes and reporting them can sometimes lead to confusion and inaccurate records. Keeping your changes in a file your team is familiar with will reduce such issues.
This utility will allow you to add, delete and update changelog entries all made by date and version number. Now when your client asks, "what changed in this version", you will have a comprehensive list ready to go.
