The Domus was the house of the wealthy class in Rome.
A domus was divided into two sections. The front section was called the antica and the back section was called the postica, built in this case around a small garden. The opening in the centre of the atrium ceiling allowed to catch rainwater in a shallow pool called an impluvium.
