This is a beat em' up template project I put together to demonstrate an easy way to put a beat em' up style game together in Unity. It has been revamped and improved. It comes with a large Read Me file and a Character Setup Guide to help get you up to speed.
Version 1.1 Changes/Additions
- Improved the efficiency of the character scripts and gave players and enemies their own version.
- Characters now use the character controller instead.
- The AI has been improved overall.
- Other minor things tweaked and changed for improvement.
- Changed the UI showing another way to use bars using image fill amounts.
- Added an exclamation point above the character's head when near an item that can be picked up.
Features
- A special move meter.
- A simple boss feature.
- Support for 1-4 players.
- Mobile input support for player one.
- Light attacks mixed with heavy and directional attacks for performing combos.
- Being hit down. Death with ragdoll and animation.
- Guarding, dodging while guarding, moving, attacking, or when airborne (air evading), and countering after being hit while guarding.
- Lives, score, changing health bar, and Game Over.
- Enemy AI that moves around the player and has 4 main states: Pursue the player, retreat from the player, pursue items, and wandering. There are options to allow the AI to be able to get items, use air attacks, and perform grabs. The player AI also considers the other player's health when dealing with healing items.
- Grading system that gives you a grade based on how well you did (see screenshot and/or first video of playlist for more on that).
- Demo title screen menu that uses Unity 4.6's UI system and allows you to change settings and options. The simple pause system also uses this.
- Demo scenes used in the demo also included.
- Item system that includes collectables, throwable items, and weapons. The weapons and throwable items will break when their health/condition reaches 0.
- Grabs, grab attacks, and throwing.
- Simple dizzy system.
- Simple cutscene system.
- Plenty of comments on all of the scripts explaining what is happening.
- And more...
